Finding the perfect apartment that meets your needs is one thing. It’s a whole other thing to find the perfect apartment that meets the needs of your pet!
That’s why we completely understand when pet owners like you ask us just as many questions about our pet policy as you do about our apartments and amenities. It’s supposed to be that way!
If you have a question about our pet policy, chances are other pet parents have that same question. So, we’ve compiled the top questions we get most often about pets right here in one handy place.
Read on to see if we have an answer for your burning questions!
Is The Hamilton pet friendly?
Yes! The Hamilton is a proud pet-friendly apartment community.
We have rules for pets, of course, just like anything else. But if you and your pets follow the rules, we would be happy to have you here!
Do you offer any pet amenities?
Yes, we do! For starters, you cannot miss the massive animal park we have right in front of our clubhouse. It’s a private park exclusively accessible to our residents and their dogs!
The animal park has an agility course, tunnels, hills, and tons of open space to run and play.
For your convenience, we also have pet waste stations located throughout the community to make it easy to pick up after your pet.
If you need a recommendation for local pet sitters, walkers, groomers, etc., don’t hesitate to send us a message and ask.
What are your pet fees?
Whether you’re starting an application for an apartment or adding a new pet to your existing lease here at The Hamilton, we require you to register your pet and pay our pet fees:
Cats and dogs 0-35 pounds = $350 nonrefundable fee.
Cats and dogs 36-50 pounds = $500 nonrefundable fee.
$25 pet rent fee per month per pet.
There is also an additional $50, one time DNA fee for dogs.
We also accept other types of pets like fish, hamsters, birds, etc. If you have a specific question about those fees, send us a message to request more details.
Do you have pet weight restrictions?
Yes. We permit dogs and cats up to 50 pounds. For aquariums, up to 50 gallons is permitted.
Please note we also do not allow more than two pets per apartment home, regardless of size or weight.
Do you have dog breed restrictions?
Yes. We do not permit dogs with aggressive breeds to reside in our community.
The following is our list of restricted breeds:
Akita
American Strafford Terrier
Bull Terrier
Bullmastiff
Chow Chow
Dingo
Doberman Pinscher
German Shepherd
Giant Schnauzer
Mastiff
Neapolitan Mastiff
Ovtcharka
Pit Bull
Presa Canario
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Rottweiler
Wolf
We also do not permit mixed-breed dogs if they are mixed with any of these breeds.
Will my pet(s) be approved?
If your pet is an approved breed and weight, we are happy to approve them. We just need you to submit some verification documents first!
When registering your pet, we will need to have their name, age, weight, color, etc. confirmed with veterinary records. Their vet records should also show they are up to date on their vaccinations.
We will also need a photo of your pet to save in our database for identification purposes. (The cuter the photo, the better!)
Can my friend’s pet come stay with me?
No animals may visit our community, even temporarily, without being registered and approved by property management. The same fees and restrictions will apply.
Please note this rule applies to pets or other animals visiting your apartment home or any community amenity. No dogs of guests are allowed, even in our dog park!
Can I have a service animal?
Of course! As an Equal Housing Opportunity provider, we abide by all fair housing laws and make reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
Assistance animals, service animals, and emotional support animals will be accepted regardless of their breed, size, weight, etc.
You will not be charged any pet fees, but we will need you to submit the same verification documents (photo and vet records) for your service animal as you would a pet.
We will also require your prescribing physician to complete a form confirming your need for a service animal in your apartment.
Why was I charged a violation fee?
When you don’t follow our pet rules, we charge violation fees.
This could happen, for example, if you don’t dispose of your dog’s waste, if you fail to keep your dog on a leash, or if you have an unregistered animal in your apartment. To avoid breaking any rules and violating your lease agreement, it’s important that you review our pet policy and addendums in full. Everything is explained in detail there, so it’s easy to know what you can and cannot do with a pet on property.
